I left a piece of my heart there
I don’t know why
And I wasn’t planning it when I chose to go
There’s a piece of my heart on that tiny town in the cornish coast
A place full of my people
Get the good and the bad
But it’s all good fun
There’s a piece of my heart there
Tugging like an elastic band,
Pulling me back
I don’t know if I’ll make it
But I really wish I could

Hospital 3 – R.W.
I spent 48 hrs in a&e
I know the TV program is 24 hrs
I didn’t even expect to be there that long
I didn’t expect to go at all
A Saturday evening trip to out of hours gp
Turned into an immersive summary
Of the state of the once great NHS
I didn’t have a bed
For any of the time I was admitted
The ladies who helped me
When my IV beeping it needed attention
Was keeping me up at night
Wrapped blankets around me as I shivered
Unable to hold my temperature
Were not nurses
The nurses were over run
With too many patients for the amount working
No the ladies of the IV lounge
We’re just further along in their journey than me
They never saw a bed either
48 hrs ahead of me
Discharged like an angel leaving
One at a time
As I’m half conscious, only slightly coherent
As the antibiotics start to kick in
Good bye my love
They finally discharged me
I hope you get out soon
And get well soon
Purple – R.W.
White paneled walls
Of the under pass traffic
Filtered into one lane
For no clear reason
Everything reflecting red
Closed lane, brakes pulled
Everything in red
Bouncing off the plastic touch tunnel
Until the tone turns purple
Then blue
The ambulance comes into view
And the accident is apparent
The House Where The Devil Lives – R.W.
Our eyes make contact
As you glance through the holes in the fence
I see the look in your eye
Before you see me
Who would leave a house like this
To over run like that
Then you catch me
Stood watching
The birds and the bees
As they enjoy the meadow grass garden
I know from the way you look away
You’ve heard it all
Know who lives here
In this house
With the garden returned to the wild
Because I haven’t been seen
Not really witnessed
In these parts
For some years now
Just a rumour
I stopped being scary
Some time ago
As memory fades
The house where the devil lived
Is now a run down cottage
By the water
Fading into fairytale
Over taken by time
Future of Me – R.W.
I want to write poems
Read poems
Sit on my balcony
In my windowsill
Under tha shade of my pergola
Crawling with vines
A lady of luxury
With the luxury of time
Enjoying nature
As love grows around me
Serenity in the peacefulness
Of this place I don’t yet know
Watch as life happens around me
The bramble so unassuming
Fighting its own battle
Before producing it’s sweet fruit
The fruit of its labour
A labour of love
In the luxury of time
And nature of
A passion persued
Dance Of The Marimoes – R.W.
Balls in lake
Green and soft
Gently woken by the light tap of the current
A nudge to start with
Enhanced by the enthusiasm of the others
To get up and go
A short jig begins
A vibration felt by all
Spin and boogey
On the lake dancefloor
Cardcadium Rythym – R.W.
The circadian rhythm
Beats hyper vigilance
Into the near dark
Driving into the city
At this time of year
At this time of day
Raises the sun
From its sleeping dormancy
To light windows
Never noticed before
Bounce back
In new illumination
The start of a new year
The dawn of a new day
International Travel – R.W.
I miss Paris
Getting lost on the metro
With no help for my poor French
The fake pleasantvile
Of the town by the resort
A place where no one actually lives
Just designed to look that way
I miss sleeping in an airport in Greece
Flight cancelled twice
With no update when we’d get home
Tired hungover and running low on charge
A pile of us and our unchecked in luggage
Snoozing through the tropical storms outside
I miss landing in Spain
The friend who said she’d pick us up from the airport
Having left voicemails
While our phones were on aeroplane mode
Called into work
And left without a lift
Trying to find our way on the local buses
We’d done no research for
As they weren’t part of the plan
I miss my friends picking me up
In old ibiza Town
When the night went a bit far
One got arrested
The other drove the car
A misunderstanding
A world apart now
I miss getting a different train
On the Stockholm metro
Having to wait at the next
Art piece of a station
As our phones didn’t work
That far underground
Hope my friends would guess where I went
I miss more than anything
The freedom to travel
Adventures abroad
The good and the bad
I miss International travel
Neglect – R.W.
I haven’t written in a while
Part of me feels I neglected it
Another feels like I haven’t needed to
Take the pain or joy
From everyday
And store them somewhere else
Even for a little while
The days have been
Not mundane
But neither full of drama
Enough to keep me going
Without feeling out of control
Cloud – R.W.
Do you know
How soft I feel
Gentle and warm
Wrapped in a cloud
Except not a cloud
This is much cosier than a cloud
Pyjamas and blanket soft on my skin
Fresh out the shower
After the longest of weeks
The softeness a cloud
Could only dream of
Of the content I feel right now
As I dose watching the sun dance
Outside my window
